Mountain Views and a party

As a child, Worth took a couple of church youth group ski trips, spending weekends at a church camp in Valle Crucis. Our second day in Boone, on a driving tour of the little community, we found the church camp. Beyond the camp, I found a waterfall, and everyone hiked uphill for 1/2 mile to see the view. This photo was taken down from the falls...

The Linn Cove Viaduct is one of world's greatest engineering marvels. It was built with almost no impact on the surrounding land, one section at a time. Seeing the Viaduct, part of the Blue Ridge Parkway, was on our list for the week. Just north of the S-shaped road, we found the Rough Ridge Trail head, and scrambled up for a bird's-eye view of the road and Grandfather Mountain. You can bet I have a bruise from getting in position quickly for this photo! Viaduct is out of the picture. Hey, we're more photogenic!

Guess who's wearing the lampshade this week?!?
