Antigua, chapter 3

Proof that I did come on this trip! The view of the city flanked by the volcano and the Cero de Cruz. We hiked down from here, and did a self-guided tour of some of the ruins in the city....

Another view of the city, Stuart and the Cross on the hill....

An enormous fountain, inside the Catedral La Merced. I couldn't get it all in my camera's frame, so it's impossible to see from this photo that the fountain is tulip shaped. Another ruined church, renovated with a little money from the government, and a tiny visitor's entrance fee...

This is the cross walk built in the early 1700's for the nuns to cross the street without being seen. The old convent, restored and used as a nice hotel and some retail stores, is on the left. This is the main tourist street in the city, and we avoided it after walking through to take this photo.

The sky is unbelievable blue, and many buildings in the city are painted white or this pretty yellow you see here.
