Sunday walk about

On the west side of the city, snug up against the mountain, there is a wide, shadey, welcoming set of stairs climbing up to the ridge on the northwest of the city, along the highway coming  from Mexico City. The stairs will also take you to the big amphitheater, where the Guelagetza, The Big Dance, is held every summer, and above it to the planetarium. We like to hike up those steps, when we're feeling guiltily sloth-like, to get the blood pumping. It's not an easy hike up, but the view of the valley is worth the effort. Sunday morning, we decided to go up. The view is much better late in the afternoon, when the sun is at a severe angle, before the lights of the city come on, but we just needed the exercise today.

At the top, along the sidewalk along the crest of the hill, we found this entrepeneur, selling hand-made pinatas. Just follow the steps down to a house somewhere below to make a purchase.

We followed a very steep street coming down from the top, not a good choice. Steps are easier than an incline! Close to the bottom, I spied this cascade of morning glories, oblivious to the fact that it is now afternoon.

And, a little further down the street, an impromptu art gallery, a place to rest.

You two could so any where and have a good time. I so enjoy following your vacation through your blog. Happy Holidays and know that we are all cold back home! Hopefully this will be my last cold winter.
